While Mother’s Tavern is closed on 4th of July, there is still a weekend of great live bands, featuring Triceratops, a classic rock band, Friday, July 3 from 5 pm – 8 pm. The Alvarez Band, a high-energy blend of blues, classic rock, blues-rock, and guitar-driven favorites on Sunday, July 5th from 1 pm – 4 pm and Znora, award-winning three-piece rock band from Tucson, Arizona that blends original psychedelic-blues rock with energetic covers spanning the 1960s through the 1990s 5 pm – 8 pm.
Located along Pacific Coast Highway between Seal Beach and Huntington Beach, Sunset Beach is one of Southern California’s hidden coastal gems. Just north of Bolsa Chica State Beach, this mile-long community has a personality all its own. The pace is slower, the crowds are friendlier, and the beach town atmosphere makes it feel like summer never ends.

The live music is one of the biggest draws, and while we’re still waiting to hear who will be performing this Fourth of July, one thing is certain—the place fills up quickly. The music room inside isn’t large, which is part of what makes it so much fun. You feel like you’re part of the show rather than simply watching it. If you’d like a table close to the stage, plan on arriving early because those seats don’t stay available for long.
If the indoor seating fills up, don’t worry. Mother’s has additional seating around the corner where guests can continue watching the performance on television screens while enjoying food, drinks, and the lively atmosphere. It’s a great option if you prefer a little more elbow room without missing the entertainment.
